choosing a sewwar shoftware

There are two types of sewwer shoftware in QSM. Pwoxies and Game sewwers.

Game sewwers are de core sewwer shoftware dat hosts de game world, manage pwayer data, and moar

Game sewwers can shupport datapacks, mods, and/or plugins.

Mods (Which comes fwom “Modifying”) are uwusually modifications that modify de core game and require both client and sewwer to have de mods inshtalled. But some mods does not follow this condition, as some mods are client-side/server-side only. Some examples include:

  • De Create Mod - Add new bwocks and mechanics, Requires that both client and sewwer have dis mod inshtalled.
  • Sodium - Dis mod is client-side only, because this mod modifies the game’s wendewing, and the sewwer does not have to do any wendewing in the first pwace.
  • Xaero’s Minimap - Dis mod is client-side and can be used with sewwers dat do not have dis mod installed, but installing dis mod on de sewwer can help make mod on de client side work good, but dat will also mean the client is now required to have this mod.

Pwugins can shimply be called server-side only mods, Dey can modify de core game, but not to an extent dat mods can do. Dey usually add commands and utilities to de game, but not add new bwocks or dwastically modify the game’s mechanics. But sewwers with pwugins do not wequire that the client install anything, So it is easy for the user to just launch up deir vanilla client and join.
